Czech car manufacturer Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech and official Czech brand representation Hyundai Motor Czech provided the Government of the Czech Republic with financial donation of CZK 10,000,000. On top of that, 20,000 FFP2 respirators in total value of CZK 3,250,000 will be given to the Moravian-Silesian Region, Frýdek-Místek and other communities neighbouring the plant in Nošovice. In addition, Hyundai cars are being lent free of charge to hospitals and health centres across the Czech Republic.
„For Hyundai, social responsibility is an integral part of our corporate culture. We are aware of responsibility for people, the region and this country. In this difficult situation, help is needed more than ever before, and we have decided to support the Government of the Czech Republic as well as individuals who have shown great courage in this struggle while helping to protect the most vulnerable group of people“, said Donghwan Yang, President of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček have symbolically accepted the financial gift of CZK 10,000,000 at the seat of the Czech Republic Government in Straka’s Academy. With the financial donation, the company aims to help the Government of the Czech Republic with the purchase of necessary medical supplies and devices.
“Unfortunately, the current situation is not easy for anyone. Our authorized brand partners operate in limited mode and in order to ensure mobility of citizens and companies, we primarily provide service at our dealerships. But all the more there is a need for solidarity, consideration and help these days, and as we are not indifferent to this crises we want to contribute both financially and by renting cars free of charge to hospitals and health centres”, comments Martin Saitz, Managing Director of HMCZ.
Distribution of 20,000 respirators will start within the next week through distribution networks of the Moravian-Silesian Region, the town of Frýdek-Místek and selected municipalities. Respirators will be given to people in the vanguard including personnel of medical facilities and hospitals, doctors, dentists, pharmacies and bodies of the Integrated Rescue System. In addition, the most vulnerable groups of people will also receive respirators – elderly and chronically ill persons. Thus, the respirators will be distributed to retirement homes in Frýdek-Místek and in surrounding villages as well.
At the same time, Hyundai will also provide free loans of its demonstration vehicles to hospitals and health centres throughout the country. From the beginning of the crisis, Hyundai’s authorized partners have been actively offering their cars to institutions in their area that need to be mobile and do not have their own resources for this. Hyundai’s authorised partners will continue to loan their cars for free.
Hyundai has been helping for a long time. Through the grant program launched in 2016, for example, it financially supports projects dedicated to children and the handicapped or various sports and cultural events held in the Moravian-Silesian Region. For the past nine years, the Good Neighbour project has been providing financial support for selected projects from municipalities around the Nošovice plant. In the 13 years of its existence, the Hyundai Foundation has distributed more than CZK 20 million for environmental protection and community projects. Recently Hyundai has started to support the Joy for Children Endowment Fund, both financially and through its Hyundai i10 cars.
