Nošovice, July 2, 2020 – The Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) plant in Nošovice has been producing key Hyundai models for a long time. The basis of the production line is the i30 model in all variants, including the N sports line. The flagship of the car manufacturer based in Frýdek-Místek is the Hyundai Tucson model, which accounts for 70% of its production. Thanks to its worldwide distribution network, the car manufacturer once again crossed the border of 70 countries on five continents with exports of its cars made in Silesia.

In total, the car manufacturer produced 309,500 vehicles and, for the eighth time in a row, exceeded the number of three hundred thousand cars produced. The largest markets were Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Russia and Poland. The Czech Republic was HMMC’s seventh largest market after Italy, with a production share of 4.2%.
Cars made in Nošovice can be found from Mexico to Australia, from Iceland to South Africa. Last year, exports to selected European countries, the Middle East and Africa increased.

The year 2019 was also interesting for the car manufacturer in terms of historically significant events. “Last year, which was the eleventh production year in our history, was extraordinary for our company in terms of the milestones we reached. In May, we celebrated the three millionth car produced, and in October, the millionth Tucson produced in Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech,” said Donghwan Yang, President of HMMC, and continued. “Our plant is equipped with technically very advanced production equipment and has long had one of the highest productivities in the Hyundai Group. The same applied for the last year. We succeeded in increasing the level of quality of manufactured vehicles, applying new technologies to production processes, increasing the degree of automation and optimising the consumption of production material.”

Thanks to a combination of these factors, the company increased its profit by 2.3% year-on-year to CZK 7.39 billion with revenues of CZK 123.14 billion. The company paid CZK 1.9 billion in income tax, being again one of the largest taxpayers in the Czech Republic. In this evaluation, as well as in terms of sales, Hyundai in Nošovice has long been one of the ten largest companies in the Czech Republic. This is also demonstrated by its extraordinary position both within the Moravian-Silesian region and the entire Czech economy.

Manufacture of Transmissions
In addition to passenger cars, HMMC also produces 2 types of six-speed transmissions,
which are used not only for cars manufactured at HMMC, but are also exported to the
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg and the sister plant Kia Motors Slovakia in Žilina. A total of 331,701 transmissions were produced last year.

Preparing for the Innovative Year 2020
“Last year was also important for HMMC in terms of preparing innovations for this year. This is special for our company regarding all the innovations that are very important for the future of the car manufacturer. We started producing the new Hyundai i30 in May, and since March we have been producing the first new generation electric car in the Czech Republic – Kona Electric. The start of its production was an event of both Czech and European significance,” added Donghwan Yang, President of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech.
