Give and Gain Day 2022 at the
ZOO Ostrava

Instead of work in production or in the office, gardening in the ZOO. This is how the non-traditional working day of volunteers from among our employees looked like. As a part of the national volunteer day called Give and Gain Day, on Friday, June 10, 2022, they again set out to lend a helping hand where it was needed.

Ten of our colleagues exchanged their work clothes for green volunteer T-shirts and set out for an adventure at the Ostrava ZOO, where a lot of work was waiting for them. After the welcoming, they got rakes, hoes and wheelbarrows in their hands and started to improve the animal enclosures and their surroundings.

The enthusiastic expressions of the volunteers testified that the whole event was a success. “I joined because I wanted to experience the ZOO from a different side than just as a visitor and at the same time help it. In addition, thanks to the fact that we arrived early in the morning, I have the opportunity to see the zoo without crowds, which is definitely worth it,” said Tomáš, our colleague from the Final Assembly department. “It’s great that we have the opportunity to be involved in such a project, to clear our heads in the fresh air and at the end of the day see the piece of work we’ve done,” added Klára from the Employee Relations department. The performance of the volunteers was also praised by the ZOO employees themselves, who added that they would be happy to welcome us back among their ranks.
