Nošovice, 9 June 2020 Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) will also support regional sports, culture and projects dedicated to children and the disabled this year. Thanks to the fifth edition of the Together 2020 grant programme, 35 projects will receive a contribution from HMMC.
Interested applicants could submit applications for almost two months this year, until the end of April. A total of 65 proposals were received. The expert committee that decided on the applications included employees from across departments at HMMC, as well as representatives of the Moravian-Silesian Region, for example.
The Nošovice automotive company will distribute CZK 640,000 among the successful applicants. Most of the money will support projects for children and sport. Both natural and legal persons can apply for a grant of up to 20 thousand crowns per individual project. HMMC will contribute financially to the reimbursement of eligible costs up to a maximum of 50 percent.
The support was primarily given to projects involving employees of the car company. Organisers of sports and children’s events throughout the region can benefit from the grant, but the grant programme will also support material equipment for some clubs and technical education for children. Some of the money will help organisations dedicated to people with disabilities. A full list of selected projects can be found at https://hyundai-motor.cz/o-spolecnosti/grantovy-program-2/
“Social responsibility is in the very DNA of our company. I am extremely proud that this is the fifth time we have supported the beautiful projects submitted not only by our employees, but also by other non-profit entities in our region. We believe that the support will help in the right places. We are already looking forward to next year’s event,” said Barbora Hermanová from HMMC’s External Relations Department.
Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of the corporate strategy of the Nosovice automotive company. The Together grant programme, which is one of the main pillars of support for the activities of its own employees and the region, was first launched by the carmaker in 2016. This is the second project of the HMMC plant with regular financial support from the region this year. In early February, the company presented symbolic cheques to the mayors of thirteen surrounding communities as part of the ninth annual Good Neighbour Project. HMMC donated CZK 50,000 to each of them. This will support local sports, cultural and social life. A total of 700,000 crowns were granted to the municipalities in the Good Neighbour Project. The third major project with financial support is the Hyundai Foundation’s annual appeal, which will be launched this year on 17 August and will support community projects and projects dealing with environmental protection and improvement.
Other pillars of the company’s corporate social responsibility include technical education, which includes support for hydrogen RC model races, traffic safety through support for a cycling competition for 4th grade students in Frýdek-Místek, and cooperation with universities. The company has also long been involved in the field of ecological activities through partial eco days or by calling for a significant reduction of plastics and plastic packaging.
